How Long Should I Cook Chicken?
You should always consider raw chicken to contain bacteria that can harm you if ingested. The bacteria is killed by cooking to the proper temperature. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) states: "Cook all poultry to a safe minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees F. as measured with a food thermometer". The recommended method to read the temperature is to place an instant read meat thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken, without touching bone, and cook until the thermometer reaches the desired temperature.
